BHIM App : The BHIM UPI app for Android and iOS now comes with the support of in-app bill payments. The app has been developed by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI).
Back in the days, the BHIM UPI app was launched as a simple UPI enabled payment interface which was marketed as a Digital India initiative. Also till now, the app only allowed the users to make digital UPI based transactions peer-to-peer transactions.
But in the recent times, the government announced a cashback scheme for customers and merchants. The main purpose of the cashback scheme is to generate more customers for the BHIM app. Also now the government has rolled their bill payment feature.
The new utility bill payment is available on the latest Bhip app update, and yes it is available for both Android and iOS devices. You will get the feature under the ‘What’s New’ section. The app says “pay bills on the go using the BHIM Bill Pay.”
In addition to that, the Bhim users will also be able to save their bills for future payments. Also, you can even recharge your postpaid mobile, landline, broadband, DTH, electricity, gas, and water bills.
To get the feature, you have to update your Bhim app to the latest version. Then you will get to see a new section called Bill Pay. The option is located under the Transfer Money section. Also to add billers you can go to the My Bills section and over here you will be able to see and add billers.
Right now, the app support postpaid mobile recharges for companies like Vodafone, Idea, BSNL, and Tata DoCoMo. In addition to that, it supports some of the popular broadband providers such as Hathway, ACT Fibernet, and Tikona. Also, you can pay your landline bills for BSNL, MTNL, and Tata DoCoMo.
However, as of now, the BHIM app has very fewer features. But it is said that the government will be rolling out more futures in the near future.
