The Huawei Mate 20 X has been the last model to reach a category that started the Nokia N-Gage in 2003. We are talking about smartphone gaming, those phones that did not fit in their beginnings (among other things, due to their monstrous designs), but that now they are returning with force to the mobile panorama. And this time, with many winning ballots.
Manufacturers no longer develop hybrid devices between a portable console and a mobile phone (such was the case of the aforementioned Nokia or the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play ), but have focused on creating authentic smartphones (outside and inside) and provide them with the presets (both hardware and software) necessary to enjoy a successful gaming experience , even in the most demanding titles.
Razer already presented a strong proposal in 2017, but this year they have also jumped on the bandwagon of mobile gaming ASUS, Nubia, Xiaomi and, this week, Huawei. In addition, the next generation of Black Shark is already in the oven and there are many rumors about a possible Nokia terminal with these characteristics. Let’s review all of them.
New Wave Of Mobile Gaming: ASUS ROG Phone, Huawei Mate 20 X, Nubia Red Magic and Razer Phone 2
Asus Rog Phone
ASUS offers us a terminal with a 6-inch AMOLED screen with FullHD resolution, two large speakers on the front and edges sensitive to tap and pressure (thanks to the AirTrigger ultrasonic sensors). In addition, the ASUS ROG Phone has a 4,000 mAh battery, a Snapdragon 845 processor and no less than 8 GB of RAM.
As for the cooling system, we have a 3D steam chamber that allows heat to flow through the interior of the mobile. For this, it has a 1mm copper plate that extends over the entire surface and evaporates the heat. In addition, there is an external module, called AeroActive Cooler, which is attached as a clamp on the back and acts as a small fan to provide extra cooling to the device.
Thanks to the Game Center app, it is possible to control some aspects of the performance of the mobile, see the temperature of the ROG Phone processor at the time you want and adjust the ventilation (there are three degrees). It also allows you to customize the ignition and color of the RGB LED ROG logo that looks on the back of the phone.
It will arrive at the end of the year in two versions with 128 and 512 GB of storage capacity, but its official price is not yet known. What we do know is that it will be accompanied by several optional accessories that will enhance the gaming experience.
Huawei Mate 20 X
In addition to a huge 7.2-inch OLED screen, the Huawei Mate 20 X has 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and the Kirin 980 processor (manufactured in 7 nanometers and with a speed of 2.6 GHz), which it is accompanied by the Mali G76 GPU.
However, the Mate 20 X mounts a 5,000 mAh battery with fast charging technology SuperCharge 2.0 and a liquid cooling system with a steam chamber and graphene film. This system, called Huawei SuperCool, allows heat to be dissipated more quickly and keeps the phone at a lower temperature while playing.
They also highlight its stereo speakers (which aims to achieve an immersive experience), the possibility of wireless projection and compatibility with the M-Pen, the stylus that Huawei launched with its range of MediaPad tablets. It has a price of $ 1039 and will go on sale on October 26.
Nubia Red Magic
If there is something that stands out of the Red Magic of Nubia is its striking design: the manufacturer has not only opted for reliefs and a very “gamer” look, but also has added a row of LEDs in the back. This model also has a 6-inch FullHD + screen with 18: 9 format, the Snapdragon 835 processor, 8GB of RAM and a single storage option available: 128GB UFS 2.1.
To offer more hours of play, Nubia opted for a cooling system consisting of three fans on the back of the phone and a 3,800 mAh battery with fast charge. In the section on sound, we have a DAC to improve sound, DTS technology, and an intelligent amplifier.
Special mention deserves the Gameboost, a dedicated button to increase the performance of the phone when we are playing. The global version of the Nubia Red Magic is priced at $ 499 on eBay.
Razer Phone 2
Just a few days ago, Razer presented the second generation of its smartphone for gamers in society. The Razer Phone 2 has an IGZO screen (2.560×1.440 pixels) of 5.7 inches with a speed of 120 Hz in both update and sampling. It is also 50% brighter than the previous model (reaches 580 nits) and is officially certified by Netflix for playback of HDR video and Dolby Surround 5.1 audio content.
In terms of design, it has a rectangular appearance, IP67 resistance certification, and more lighting effects through the Razer Chroma. On the back is the Razer logo of the snake, which acts as a notification LED and can be customized.
Inside, we found the Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB of RAM memory LPDDR4X, the Adreno 630 GPU and a 4000 mAh battery compatible with Quick Charge 4+ fast charging. It also highlights its cooling system, which opts for a brand steam chamber to dissipate heat. It is now sale on online store for $ 799.99.
What is to come ?
Although only a few months ago that Xiaomi launched its Black Shark, the characteristics of its successor have already been filtered and we know that it will not present major changes. The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 will feature a 5.99-inch screen with 18: 9 aspect and FullHD resolution, the Snapdragon 845 processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It is also speculated that the price could be around $ 429.
In addition, there are well-founded rumors about the possible launch of a Nokia gaming terminal; In fact, HDM Global itself published a teaser on its Twitter account last month stating that they will present a new mobile, with the tag # GameOn.
It is also speculated that Samsung could be preparing a specific model to attract more gamers, but this seems less likely. At least, at the moment.
