The tablet is built on the platform MediaTek Helio X27. Two years ago it was one of the most productive chipsets, and even now it looks good. Inside, there are 10 processor cores, which are divided into three clusters.

The first consists of two cores Cortex-A72 with a frequency of 2.6 GHz. The second cluster has four core Cortex-A53 with a frequency of up to 2 GHz. The third is the same four Cortex-A53 cores, but with a frequency of up to 1.6 GHz. Depending on the load, one, two or three clusters work at once, which ensures good energy efficiency. The 4-core Mali-T880MP4 graphics chip with a clock frequency of 875 MHz is responsible for the graphics.

The amount of RAM is 4 GB, and the size of the internal storage is 64 GB. This configuration is fully consistent with the realities of today. Space for all the necessary programs and data for the first time just enough, and then you can install an additional memory card instead of the second SIM.

Support for GPS and GLONASS, as well as 3G and 4G mobile networks, will be useful for those who want to use the Teclast T20 in the field, for example in the country or on the road, as well as a car navigator.

Complete Design and Appearance

TECLAST 43

Teclast supplies all its devices in chic, not afraid of the word, white boxes. They are made of such durable cardboard that they can withstand any road without any additional protection.

Inside, we found the tablet itself, the charger, the USB Type-C connecting cable and a thin instruction. The plug of the charger corresponds to the Chinese format, for which we put the manufacturer the first minus. Tablet design, though not the most outstanding, but it looks nice. The front surface is made of white plastic, the back cover is metal. The frames on the left and right of the screen are rather narrow by the standards of the tablets, their thickness is less than one centimeter.

The volume rocker and the power button are located on the top face, if the main orientation is landscape orientation. They are made of shiny metal, they sit well in their places, they are pressed with a slight click. On the same side there is a plastic insert, which is necessary for the operation of wireless interfaces.

On the left side there is a jack for connecting wired headphones and a combo tray for installing two nanoSIM or one SIM card and an additional memory card. To unlock the device, you can use a fingerprint scanner located on the back cover. The place was chosen successfully: with the left index finger it is convenient to unlock the tablet in both landscape and portrait orientations. Accuracy and response speed are not record, but not annoying.

In general, the materials, assembly and appearance of the device evoke positive emotions. All parts fit tightly, no squeaks and rattles. The metal back cover gives a feeling of durability, and the white frames look fresh and elegant.

Display and Speakers

The Teclast T20 uses a Sharp 10.1-inch IPS screen. This company is able to produce high-quality displays and has been supplying them to the market for several years.

The display resolution is 2,560 × 1,600 pixels. It is made according to the OGS technology, which made it possible to get rid of the air gap between the matrix and the protective glass. This improves the contrast and viewing angles, and the picture becomes juicier. However, the screen Teclast T20 can not boast perfect color reproduction, so the colors look too saturated. This feature of the display, apparently, will have to get used to, because it cannot be eliminated with any settings.

For lovers of reading there is a special monochrome mode that turns the device into a sort of reading room with an E-ink screen. In addition, there is a night mode of illumination, eliminating the harmful blue radiation. If you additionally set the minimum level of brightness, then you can use the tablet for a long time in low light without fear for vision.

We liked the screen, though with some reservations. At first they strain too bright colors, which sometimes become poisonous. However, it soon begins to seem like it should be, and all other gadgets already look too faded. Therefore, we will not record this feature in obvious flaws.

Although the built-in speakers work in stereo mode, they cannot boast loudness or special quality. But when you connect headphones sound picture is completely changed. All necessary frequencies, depth and volume of the scene appear. Yes, and the volume in the headphones is such that it will not find it.

Performance

TECLAST t20 gaming

The Helio X27 chipset at the time of its appearance on the market was one of the most productive solutions. However, about two years have passed since then, so now his speed will satisfy far from all. Large screen resolution also had a bad effect on speed.

In synthetic tests, the Teclast T20 shows average results. Such performance is quite enough for surfing, watching videos, listening to music , working with maps and simple games, that is, the tablet copes with all typical tasks without visible voltage and case heating.

However, in demanding applications, the performance of the video card is sorely lacking. You can play World of Tanks, Shadow Fight 3 or PUBG , but you have to set all the graphics settings to minimum.

Camera

The main camera is a 13 megapixel module with SAMSUNG S5K3L8 sensor. He could well take pictures, if the manufacturer has slightly optimized software.

Unfortunately, the pictures turn out to be faded and inexpressive. Their quality loses even to entry-level smartphones , so there is no point in using the Teclast T20 for photography. The most that cameras of this gadget are capable of is filming documents in good light and video conferencing. However, most users use tablets for this purpose.

Autonomy

The tablet has a solid battery of 8,100 mAh. This is a fully justified measure, as the Teclast T20 uses a powerful processor and a high-resolution screen. A battery of less capacity would discharge in just a couple of hours.

In the synthetic test GeekBench 4 tablet showed average results. In real life, the battery of the device is quite enough for 1-2 days of normal use, while the screen runs for 7-8 hours. Abnormal leakage of energy at rest is practically absent.

Software

The tablet Teclast T20 uses Android 7.1 Nougat. More than a year has passed since the release of this system, so its use in a modern gadget is at least surprising. There is no talk about any upgrade to Android Oreo or even more.

In general, the system works stably and quickly. In addition to the standard set of Google utilities, the list of preinstalled software includes several Chinese programs whose purpose and mechanism are impossible to understand without knowing the language. They, fortunately, are easily removed, but the unpleasant residue from their presence remained. It is good that checking with several antiviruses didn’t let our paranoid fears run wild.

The manufacturer added the ability to use a fingerprint scanner for navigation in the operating system settings. One touch returns to the previous screen, double tap shows a list of running applications, and a long hold opens the desktop. A useful feature that is sometimes much more convenient than traditional on-screen navigation buttons.

During tablet testing, Teclast programmers have released one update. The description indicates that some minor errors and defects were corrected, but we did not notice any visible changes after its installation.

Results

In general, the Teclast T20 leaves a good impression, especially considering its price. Almost all competitors with the support of cellular networks and navigation are more expensive. The tablet is perfect for reading books, watching movies and surfing, but fans of modern games should look for a more productive model.
